CS Risk Takers

CS Risk Takers Toastmasters club in Amarillo sponsored an 8 week-long Youth Leadership program this summer. During this program about 13 youth participants learned and practiced communications and leadership skills. They gave speeches and evaluated each other. They practiced chairmanship by electing officers, and conducting each meeting following parliamentary procedures. They also learned the importance of gestures, vocal variety and humor in making their presentations more effective. At the completion of the program, certificates were awarded in the presence of Amarillo Mayor, Debra McCartt. The mayor appreciated the efforts of these youth participants and promised them that these skills will be very useful to them! Many parents present at the ceremony wished they had learned these skills in their childhood! All the parents were very proud to see their child getting more confident in speaking in front of an audience!
